Registration and Entry Process

Boys for whom English is not their first language, will be asked to submit their most recent school reports for consideration before registration. Boys for whom English is their first language follow our standard admissions process.

If English is not a boy's first language we recommend the UKiset assessment, which can be taken at a local approved centre in country. We also accept the ISEB Common Pre-Test and CAT4 assessments which may be sat at a British Council office, an agent’s centre, or a current school. In addition boys will be asked to complete an EAL paper set by the School and have an interview. Our Admissions Team will advise on the appropriate route depending on your son’s year of entry.

For further support, please email or call us.

Offer and Acceptance of a Place

Once an offer has been made, international families are asked to confirm the place with a £2,000 non-refundable Acceptance Deposit, plus a Terms Fees Deposit for boys whose parents reside outside the UK.  Once the deposit and paperwork are received, a place is guaranteed.

Child Student Visas

Boys who do not hold a British or Irish passport may require a Child Student visa.

The School will provide a CAS (Confirmation of Acceptance to Study) in order for you to apply for a visa.  This can be applied for up to six months before arrival. The School will contact you to start this process.  Please see our Child Student Visa Guide and/or visit the UKVI website.

Guardianship

All pupils whose parents reside outside the UK must appoint a guardian based in the UK.

While Sherborne Boys does not recommend individual guardians, a full list of accredited organisations is available through AEGIS.

Sherborne Boys full Guardianship Policy is available here.
