Charities and Outreach

We are committed to making a meaningful contribution to communities beyond our school.

Our work in charities and outreach benefits those we support, while also enriching the wellbeing, perspective, and personal development of our boys. Community engagement is therefore central in our approach to character education and remains a vital part of school life.

We talk often with pupils about the importance of community, and how individual contributions can make a meaningful difference, whether through giving time or raising vital funds. We are proud to be dedicating more time to this important work, strengthening our commitment and extending our support to an ever wider audience. Our Head of Charities and Outreach, Mr Herod, is proud to lead an inspiring programme that benefits both pupils and the wider community.

Recent support includes:

  • Donating to Sherborne Food Bank
  • Raising money for Friends of the Yeatman Hospital by participating in a 10km charity fun run, hosting a Christmas concert, and undertaking a “sleep out”
  • Running sports clubs at Sherborne Primary School and raising money with a garden party to fund external sports coaches
  • Volunteering weekly at Sherborne Abbey Primary School.
  • Sherborne Voluntary Ambulance: by raising money with the Turing Static Bike Ride
  • Raising money by performing karaoke uninterrupted for 12 hours for The Rendezvous (a charity that provides support and guidance to local people aged 13-25)

Also supporting organisations in the wider community such as:

  • Campaign Against Living Miserably
  • Ruth Strauss Foundation
  • Shoebox Appeal
  • Movember
  • Young Minds Trust
  • The King’s Trust
  • Children in Need
  • Highfield Highreach Holidays

Supporting wellbeing

We strive to help others while encouraging our boys to develop a strong sense of belonging beyond school, alongside a commitment to service and kindness, and to put these values into practice both during their time as pupils and throughout their lives.
